New supercomputer placed in Kajaani

CSC – IT Centre for Science announced its latest supercomputer-investment today.  The new system will be deployed in two phases. The first phase will be operational in the summer of 2019 and will include a solution designed for AI research.

Kajaani area in Norther Finland has become remarkable ecosystem of high performance computing including optimized data centers, secured infrastructure including electricity from national grid and university of applied science providing skilled DC-professionals.

The new supercomputer will provide Finnish researchers six times more the capacity than previously. It enables researchers to predict climate change and its effects, utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI) to develop new medical treatments, and solve other very computing intensive problems.
