Extensive connectivity infrastructure in Finland enables fast and resilient data transfer capabilities

CSC – IT Center for Science, has completed its upgrades to the Funet national backbone network. Funet now has a bandwidth of 100Gbit/s all across Finland.  Funet is Finnish national research and education network that has about 75 organizations and 360,000 users. Educational institutions and other research network users will now have increased transfer capacity which means higher quality, faster and less congested data connections.

Teemu Kiviniemi, Development Manager of the Funet network, from CSC says that Finland is the first of the Nordic countries to have all backbone connections in its national research and education network running on 100 Gbit/s technology. Kajaani is one of the important hubs in the national Funet network.
